Speaking of undocumented mechanics (ESPECIALLY when it comes to healing)
Here are two data points that show just how ****ed up healing is. Note, both of these data points are taken in a guild hall, where there is no extra borking via 'Chaos Leech' going on...

Notice how the group ward, in the tool tip, is nearly double the point ward on the tooltip, but is effectively the same size when actually cast.
Also notice how a drastic change in the tooltip between data point 1 and data point 2 (achieved by taking off ALL armor and leaving weapons and jewelry) yields nearly zero change in the wards when cast.

The REAL irony.. when questioned about healing mechanics, the ONLY official response we've gotten from devs is 'more potency = bigger wards'.. and yet the data points show that extra potency makes nearly no actual difference.

Aaaaand grumpy healer here decided to poke the general forums about the above 'feature'. I'd post them in discord, but that would, undoubtedly, get me banned, no matter how politely I framed it. Questions and criticism, ESPECIALLY when backed up with data, seems a good way to get booted from discord.

It is sometimes difficult for me to not post on the OF. Especially when I see one of the usual suspects saying something dishonest and stupid that could be easily picked apart. All of the stuff I've been reading lately makes me think I'd be better off not going back to the forums at all for the foreseeable future. Uncle Berty is having his way with Norrath and it's rotting from within if it's not a walking corpse already. Bummer.

Heals have been capped for years. Its dumb and its another thing that warrants a stat squish but they are a bunch of amateurs at darkpaw games and apparently lost a few developers this year without even announcing it, which is part reason why luclin has gone down the shitter and isnt getting fixed any time soon.

They have absolutely no idea what to do with stats in this game and they will eventually hit the 32-bit integers cap like wow had and they either have to make multiple phases, some sort of shield mechanic or stat squish. We all know how well it goes when they add new stuff. Cant wait to see when the **** show begins.

Heh. Healers have been so quiet for the last year that I figured the Devs had backtracked some off all the hidden mechanics crap.

Did they take that stupid instance debuff for healing (can't remember what it's called) and hardwire it into the base healing nechanics?

Doing something like that would be right out of Kander's playbook.

It was very difficult not to respond seeing Raff insulting peoples intelligence on the OF.
Class Balance will be an illusion as long as there is no stat consolidation and every high end player knows this.....

Raff's Bubble Gnome flavor is to assert that the game is just fine for him, and the failure of others to feel the same way he does means there is something wrong with them.

Part of that was me being banned from discord. I'm VERY good at being cranky healer :p

Had to bite my tongue myself when I saw that. I figured he/she was trying to do exactly what you describe, with a passive-aggressive shot a la Benito thrown in.

Raff has been a waste of forum space for years. He literally posts the same thing over and over.

He's almost gone on my ignore list, right next to Breanna (who I've never actually interacted with), for the sheer unrelenting vapidity of his posts.

And it's not because he's a fan of the game (he's not, actually) or that he defends it (he doesn't really do that either).

Raff got put on ignore last night after that last post. "Maybe it's a generational thing." I just wanted to quote him and type, "STFU."

That happened long ago, a lot of the numbers were already changed to 64-bit. At the rate they're going they're going to be bumping up against that before long as well though. :p

Nah, we just gave up. Note the bitter laughter of my retired raid defiler you're hearing in the background.

Some of the more prolific bubble gnomes are working hard to repair cracks in their bubbles. The seeming inability to apply logical inference to what eq2 is up to is amusing.

If crafters were all that (revenue-wise), then crafting would still be an important thing. No doubt the deco folks spend money so that part of the game will remain alive and well.

Everything else crafting conflicts with shop revenue, and anyone would be hard pressed to convince me that the deco folks spend anywhere near what the p2w crowd is spending on an annual basis.

At one time, I would have strongly disagreed with you. But.

That was before they introduced (now pseudo-require?) the direct purchase of character power to the cash shop. It drastically changes things.

Also, once upon a time they actually put serious effort into supplying things that the decorators would spend crazy amounts of money for. When is the last time anyone said they were looking forward to buying several of the new house coming out or a dozen or two of a new piece of furniture? Not for some time I'd guess. Decorators need a steady flow of new, cool stuff to keep them interested just like everyone else does.

Yeah. She's trying to make the case that the crafters are just as lucrative as the p2w crowd.

Notice, she doesn't seem to care about the itemization issues, or even the rng (with the exception of recipe books).

ESO is proof that people will spend insane amounts of money on fluff and cosmetics. Their shop is pricey, but it it is constantly updated with stuff that is cool and fun.

I have come around to side with the majority. There's no long-term plan at work. Only an annual and desperate attempt to hit profit goals given a rapidly shrinking customer base.
