Our aim is to provide EverQuest II players with a forum where they can feel comfortable expressing their views without fear of condescension or heavy-handed moderation. We understand that players are passionate about the game and that discussions can become heated, but we encourage all members to be tolerant.

We'd like to avoid having to post an extensive Code of Conduct that covers every possible rule, so let's try to keep it simple...
    • Don't post anything you wouldn't say to other members face-to-face. The members of this forum are not anonymous names behind a computer screen to curse and berate or to direct hateful, comments towards. A basic level of respect is expected.
    • No ad hominem attacks/libel/slander -- If you have a problem with another member and it cannot be addressed civilly on the forums, then please make use of the private Conversations system. If this is unsuccessful, please elevate the issue with a Moderator or the Forum Administrator.
    • We are a forum community! Nobody really thinks about what that means, but in this case, it means that those who are helpful, post useful information, and contribute to the community will be recognized over someone who manages to skirt the rules yet contributes very little.
    • Don't Post for your Own Amusement. Some forums would call this "trolling", although I don't believe in having a rule against something not easily defined (see "constructive"). Don't create meaningless posts or threads solely for your own amusement by drawing negative attention to yourself (ie "sh*tposting"). Throwing a grenade with a controversial or contrarian viewpoint and then walking away to enjoy the resulting strife is not useful.
    • Do not belittle or insult another player for their choice of gameplay style. We accept and represent all styles of gameplay from crafting to roleplay to raiding and grouping to house decorating. Players should be feel comfortable discussing how they excel in any of those forms of gameplay which is why we have created separate sections for each, as well as general forums that encourage "cross-pollination". It's perfectly acceptable to have unpopular or controversial viewpoints, if they are posted in a respectful fashion.
    • Religious and Politically-charged topics/posts are STRICTLY forbidden. We've seen (and run) forums that dabbled in allowing these and the results have always been disastrous as the community tears itself apart while members alienate each other.
    • Posting from multiple accounts (sock puppets) is NOT allowed.
    • This is not EQ2Flames! -- While we recognize the immeasurably helpful Class forums from that site which were full of helpful guides and expert advice on character improvement, we cannot abide the rampant abuse, intolerance, and degenerate behavior which came with it. This is not a free-for-all and we do not abide anarchy.
    • No Doxxing -- Do not share private information about other forum members or Daybreak employees without their prior permission.
    • Allowed Call Outs -- If someone posts something that is clearly inaccurate or if a player brazenly commits socially unacceptable in-game behavior, you have a limited right to call them out for it. This does not preclude you from any of the other Forum Rules stated and if this is abused, we may need to revisit this rule. This is intended to address those players who feel there are no consequences for their actions.
    • Respect the EQ2 Developers -- While we have had incredible access to the EverQuest II developers on the forums and at SOE Live, ultimately this is their job and they are entitled to have a life outside that job. Just as we do not "own" the personal lives of the creators and manufacturers of our electronic devices, we do not own the EverQuest II developers. They make a game that we like and we are fortunate enough to get to communicate with them! Do not harass or ad hominem attack current Daybreak employees.
    * Ad hominem (Latin for "to the man" or "to the person"[1]), short for argumentum ad hominem, is a logical fallacy in which an argument is rebutted by attacking the character, motive, or other attribute of the person making the argument, or persons associated with the argument, rather than attacking the substance of the argument itself.

    Boilerplate

We reserve the right to edit or delete or move any post on the forum without notification. We take no responsibility for anything posted on the forum. We reserve the right to suspend/ban any user at any time for any reason. All posts to the forum should be considered the OPINION of the author, and not necessarily that of the Forum Administrators/Moderators.

Users of this forum also agree to follow the Standard Terms & Rules.

    Disagree?

If you disagree with a moderation action or these rules, please contact the Forum Administrator. If you intend to take a defiant, aggressive tone, then you'll likely get predictable results. However if you can make a coherent, rational argument, you might be surprised at my willingness to reverse a decision.
