Retrieve character_events with name, not id?

Can I pull the same results (as below link) using character name instead of character id?

Silence a good indication of "not possible"?

 

If you are planning on polling the characters_event type its much more efficient to get the character_id once rather than having to look it up in the db with each poll call. If you are only making this call a single time you could do this:
