EverQuest II: Chaos Descending Expansion Announced

    My point was not if you used them or not, its each persons money to spend how they want, but more to the point that I believe the company is making a lot more on Krono sales right now than even on the booster and such from the Store. So as long as they are making the money there.

    I just believe at this point most of the high end players are buying Kronos for their account off the broker, and someone out there is buying that krono from DBG, so the money is constantly flowing in so they really don't need to find a cash shop anywhere else. I am sure they want more of a revenue stream from the other things, but they don't care at this point to change anything for the better, the money is there and they are doing what they want.

    Spoiler "Conspiracy Theory Alert"

    I have no evidence of this and am curious if there are even laws against this.

    What keeps DBG from selling kronos for cash, having people put them on the broker for plat, and DBG just manufacturing plat on a bot and buying the item.

    This way they got the cash, but people still need the sub and buy more kronos for cash. It would obviously cause inflation, but...............

    I remember thinking that krono promotion they had this last spring smelled fishy.

    No doubt, krono sales are a big deal, and an indirect p2w mechanic.

    I also suspect there are some accounting gimmicks the sales serve, such as inflating units of game time being sold, etc

    From memory, they don't have to put the money from Kronos through as sales until it's redeemed. So there is a big pot of money somewhere that has come from Kronos, but if they are never consumed then they don't have to put it through as revenue/turnover.

    The Krono conspiracy arises every now and again, but I think chances of it are slim. They are too busy coming up with Super Resolving Mitigation for next expac to do it.

    I agree with several of the points made about Krono sales, but I don't think any of this will matter in the near future. I am betting sales for this expansion will be the lowest ever. I see the overall lack of enthusiasm on the official forums and general disappointment in the beta section.

    Guild recruitment has all but dried up. None of the servers are ever that busy. Even Halls of Fate and Majdul have had a light load the majority of the time. I think they have finally pushed many of the most loyal players, perhaps even a few bubble's past their breaking limit.

    Yeah. Could simply be pricing strategy. Kronos are what, priced about 20% or so higher than a sub?

    Let the auction channel and rare trade-able drops run wild and yippee.

    Edit:

    I don't remember how that krono promotion was structured, but I do remember that it seemed fishy to me because it was inconsistent with the pricing strategy I noted above ~

    Inflation of the money supply brings on it's own problem for the game economy. Not easy to rectify either but not sure DB cares.

    He was so awesome as a human being and of course, ultra talented. Definitely great therapy for sure.

    I wonder if in part they based the Ned Flanders character on him. The upbeat personality etc. Who knows lol.

    Since my knee won't let me play soccer any more, my chosen form of therapy is cycling. Can only do short rides at the moment, but 20 miles is still enough to get a good workout AND burn off.. frustrations ;)

    *sigh* Sooo.. the most recent patch notes includes
    And the debuff does list a number....
    Text of Chaotic Leech:
    T1: Disrupts natural energies, reducing wards and healing received by 5295
    T2: Disrupts natural energies, reducing wards and healing received by 7538

    But.. the number doesn't really tell us anything because it's not a percentage as my tests revealed:
    Umbral Barrier
    • Myrist: 357,846,961
    • T1 Heroic: 187,226,399 --> 52.32%
    • T2 Heroic: 135,916,124 ---> 37.98%
    Ancestral Ward
    • Myrist: 218,716,705
    • T1 Heroic: 71,235,124 --> 32.57%
    • T2 Heroic: 46,036,286 --> 21.05%
    Oberon
    • Myrist: 288,684,952
    • T1 Heroic: 95,237,711 --> 32.99%
    • T2 Heroic: 55,515,815 --> 19.23%
    Torpor (ward)
    • Myrist: 109,736,000
    • T1 Heroic: 31,872,614 --> 29.04%
    • T2 Heroic: 22,179,118 --> 20.21%
    Torpor (heal)
    • Myrist: 54,597,711
    • T1 Heroic: 20,850,702 --> 38.19%
    • T2 Heroic: 13,131,458 --> 24.05%

    I used non-scaling gear for the tests and arts that have fixed values, to make the comparisons accurate and fixed.
    So after repeated requests for transparency, they give us a number that tells us... nothing...
    Well, I suppose it does tell us that the debuff is higher in T2 vs T1, but we already knew that.

    I really don't understand why they don't seem to want healers to have solid information on what the debuff does. :(

    The only possible scenario I can conceive of that makes any sense at all is that the debuff reflects a scenario/result they want, and (a) they're trying to figure out if it works with everything else and (b) how to reverse-engineer to get the result they want. In other words, they're trying to force a benchmark. That's not to say it would be a good idea, or that their utter lack of transparency is in any way shape or form excusable, but it's at least possible that's what they're up to here.

    So, are you saying the values published for the debuff are the same for each instance?

    Hopped over the OF to see what the peeps are talking about.

    That part that struck me was the debuff is on incoming heals.

    This implies they have created some kind of hidden value born by the target to regulate heals received?

  18. Mermut

    Mermut Well-Known Member

    Not necessarily. They've had debuffs on incoming heals before (fabled guk for example). But in those cases it was a straight % increase.
    I have pretty definitive proof that the debuff is by individual heals. Not only is the % debuff significantly different for different heals. I've found a few heals that are not debuffed at all...

    I have a feeling they will have to buff the healer mercs since all the player healers will be re-rolling...

    I haven't bought an expansion in almost 4 years. I'm mostly in from what I recall mid-tier ToV gear (raid guild I was with was working on wings of Temple of Veeshan before I retired). Back then I thought 700k hp was a huge leap, but now looking at toons with 80m hp I now know what it's like to be someone who quit the game around Rise of Kunark just to see what everyone was at in DoV-ToV era. Like ****...

    Anyways, is it worth getting back into the game? Like I mean just paying $40 to do the solo zones of the past 3 expansions along with this new expansion to see where the story went? Or is it best to not bother? I saw the servers got condensed into one, is the population problems really bad?
