I honestly believe it's them being stubborn. They might as well say 'we know best, we're in charge. You'll like it or lump it, we're not backing down'.

I mean look at Essence of Chaos, they should of just taken it out of the loot tables. They didn't even need to replace it with anything. But them being stubborn and claiming 'yeah we have a plan for that' .. now means they have to use resources to come up with something.
I sure as hell am not letting that thread go, and I still feel like punching my monitor when I get one.
In that respect I think they're all idiots. They made work for themselves there because they would not admit they made a mistake.

None of them should be dealing with customers, they're so incredibly rude. (exception Kaitheel)
And I don't know how much time they spend on Discord, but it's time they let that go and got on with their jobs. Let's face it, they're only on Discord for head pats from their fan poodles, anyone that criticizes them is banned.

I don't even buy the lack of resources. I'm pretty sure it would of taken them the same amount of time to do it properly, or at least to of fixed it by now, than it did for them to completely f&%# it up.

But hold onto your tails y'all! They're thinking outside the box and they always put customers first!

Endymion's point to me (paraphrasing a bit) is that I'm giving them way too much credit by assuming they have some kind of systematic plan to get the game to "x".

It's merely a poorly run organization caught in end endless cycle of knee jerk-consequence-knee jerk.....

I've probably been projecting because I'm a planner who is thoughtful with decisions, and I can't imagine running a business any other way

In any case, two things give me pause. First, the lying is indisputable.

Secondly, I made a comment on this thread that was quoted and elaborated upon. Gninja responded to the elaboration (bugs and feedback), but left the substance of my post unanswered.

New poisons on raid merchant. | EverQuest 2 Forums

Edit: the two pauses above are still consistent with with the Endymion/Feldon/Charlice perspective.

It's like you've got Gninja on the one hand saying, "Let's keep the crafting, I'll do the sig line."

And then you've got Caith going, "Whatever, I hate this **** so I'm going to make it worthless..."

Kander: "We need more shop sales out of it."

Longdale "I don't care what you guys do as long as you hit your revenue markers."

So hang on, if he hadn't done that and with no writs in place and pristine bonuses long gone, how were crafters even supposed to level in this expac?

    I am with Charlice /Endymion,
in that their didn't have a plan for crafting back in PoP an now. In PoP Gninja stepped in for the Tradeskill Signa and confused Crafter with High End Player. But he learned from that and the other Crafter Signas were different and player liked it.

    Endymion,
i have a question for you with your inside knowledge. As more and more asking for a Roadmap/Timeschedule as to how they are intedning/planning getting the game back into shape. Do you think Holly and maybe Kander will come up with more information ?

It's a catch 22, if they say crafting will be phased out ( as an example) Player will KNOW and leave the game.

If they don't say anything Player will ASSUME and leave the game.

A Producer's Letter from Holly with the phrases "We care about you", "We planning exciting stuff" or "There will be Luclin Part II at the end of the year" is not going to cut it.

Y'all are being Bubble Gnomish. Seriously, look at Outfitters, forget anything else, unless there is a complete turn around sometime between now and the next expac then crafting is done. When you have 100s of player crafted items that are still not "discovered" 2 months and 12 days past launch because those items are useless to make and the resource requirement for them is this heavy then **** is broke.

Edit to add - this gear WAS worth making in Beta. They changed it to NOT be worth making.

To be fair, the gear wasn't worth making on beta either, we just didn't know it, because the source of 'uncommon lunar material' was a 'surprise' Caith saved for live.

Don't believe many are disputing that crafting is being phased out. It's just a matter of whether folks believe the decision was made in Dec (majority) or whether it's part of a long-term plan (the cynics).

I firmly believe that the decision to drop Next was made a good 4 or 5 months before they declared it was not fun. I also believe that if Landmark didn't go on the chopping block then it wasn't far behind. Did they make those decisions just before Next was (un)officially axed? Did they plan it out several months or more before then?

    Does it really matter?

I wouldn't care if it was food I ordered, work done on my car, or the kid mowing my lawn. Why should I care with game devs? If they screwed up what I'm paying for all I care about is that they make it right or **** right off.

It was made well before Dec or there would have been a TS sig line, there wasn't a TS sig line for PoP either at launch was there?

Yeah. I suspect Kander and Caith have wanted to kill crafting since the moment Domino left. They just finally did it.

Here's my wild, completely unsupported by hard facts theory - The game is done and goes into maintenance mode after BoL part two. They're not going to hire a TS dev because there's no reason to at this point. Itemization is unimportant because it doesn't matter. They'll do their best to try and keep the raiders/decorators happy for the rest of the year, collect on the expac purchases at the end of the year, and institute a few things along the way that are blatant P2W to collect as much cash as possible while at the same time cutting costs. I imagine the devs are aware of this and under an NDA and non-compete which guarantees them a job until the end and then releases them from the non-compete.

    It's an age old story.

They changed all the gear. Caith posted three posts or more worth of copy/pasted gear changes.

No insider knowledge on my part, sorry. :p Based on all of the broken promises and in general how the game has been handled the past few years, I don't see how anyone can expect things to improve -- at best, they can just hope that the bleeding is slowed so that players can spend more time in the world they love.

They don't have the time or manpower to do any drastic overhauls considering they need to put out an expansion each year, which makes them breaking things that were previously working even more befuddling.
