Substring search performance

    Hi,

I'm trying to do some fairly basic substring name searches, the typical kind I might have used on the old EQ2Players site such as:

    census.daybreakgames.com/xml/get/eq2/guild/?name=i/Truewatch/&c:limit=10&c:show=name,id,world

    census.daybreakgames.com/xml/get/eq2/character/?name.first=i/Uxian/&c:limit=10

This kind of query would have come back almost instantly on EQ2Players but is timing out after several minutes with the new data feeds.  Exact string matches are coming back much more quickly.  Am I doing something wrong with my syntax?  Is this kind of search something that the new feeds are intended to support?

Loving the amount of data that's coming back when it does respond though.  Very thorough.

Edit: Just got the following response back from the first search: "Whoa! Something is not right with this server!"

There was an issue with the database.  It should be better.  Try it now.

You may see performance problems when using non-indexed fields.  In general, we've tried to limit the number of indexes.

I'll try to get some documentation for what is indexed soon.
