Feeds down?

Is something wrong with the feeds on SOE's end? They were working fine yesterday, but today I tried census.daybreakgames.com/xml/count/eq2/i....name=houseitem and census.daybreakgames.com/xml/get/eq2/ite...e&c:limit=0 and am just getting 504 Gateway Time-Out errors.

 

I believe there was some maintenance this afternoon. We got a number of e-mails suggesting that things were being tweaked but everything's working again smoothly.

 

I am getting periodic timeouts today still.  This started last night, and seems to indicate that the database servers are down.

BTW, this is another time you indicate that you seem to have some inner circle access to information that is not being posted on the public or developer forum about the internal operations of the data feed system.  Would you or someone from SOE elaborate on that access please, and perhaps consider other large data users having similar access?  SOE parcipation on the forums indended for data feed discussion seems like a good thing; inner circles seems like a bad one.

 

When I say "We got a number of e-mails", I am referring to automated e-mails we received from video of our SOE Live Data Feeds panel where Dethdlr and I talked about the process by which the Census data evolved into something mature enough that EQ2U, RosterMaster, EQ2Scene, and EQ2Mission could get useful data via realtime queries (rather than scraping the entire character and item records).

One of the key points in our presentation was the fact that Dethdlr and I exchanged over 1,000 e-mails with SOE in the process of the data feeds getting up and running. We repeatedly gave our feedback and pointed out places where the data format and query structure would not allow certain searches, or were ambiguous. If we had just stayed consumers of the data, rather than taking an active part in improving it, EQ2U wouldn't be able to do half of what it does now.

The lion's share of our communication with SOE happened from sending e-mails to [url="mailto:[email protected]">[email protected][/url]. This e-mail address has been posted throughout this forum as the place where questions, comments, and feedback should be sent. I realize that Dan Kinney was very active in this forum, but he is no longer with the company and not everyone is comfortable with forums (especially seeing the rage and personal attacks towards devs on the EQ2 forums).

 

My IMs and e-mail address are also fairly easy to get if you ever need to speak to me directly.

 

I got about a dozen of errors emailed to me by the data feeds tonight:

[SOE Data Exception] - database error: ReplicaSetMonitor no master found for set: census

I just disabled the email alias I was using to get these reports because I fear I might get up tomorrow morning with a filled mailbox

 

Not an unfounded fear. I got 819 e-mails from Census this morning between 1:26 and 3:35am with most of them concentrated around 2:30am. Did someone install Windows 8 on the Census cluster?
