Feature Enhancement Request: Quest Journal

A Roster Master user asked about the possibility of getting heritage quest status (specifically, completion).

I was thinking that being able to access the quest journal at some level of detail would be nice. Currently, RM4DF has a quest module that allows users to self-identify select hertage, key, and timeline quests, but I'm more or less setting that up myself. It more or less is set up fairly non-granular (not started, in-progress, completed) - with the exception of certain multi-step quests.

It'd be nice to pull the status directly, rather than having users self-idetify, but I'm concerned the character collection data would become unwieldly. If it would be possible to select quest data by collection (heritage, access, etc.) it might be possible to keep things somewhat reasonable, but I'm not sure if that would be a reasonable request, as I have no idea how the game stores quest data.

Anyway, although it's not a slam-dunk because the implementation might have difficulties, I thought the user's suggestion had merit, and wanted to pass it on.

I assume that returning the quest journal content in an unresolved form (i.e. just a list of Quests IDs) wouldn't be that bad.  A c:resolve could take care of replacing IDs with descriptions and such for those actually needing it.  In your case, you'd only need to have a complete lists of Quest IDs that relate to Heritage Quests, and match them.  I assume completed steps are also handled in some ID form on the database.  (yeah, that's a lot of assumptions on my part <img src="/station/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" /> )

I remember discussing this a few months back and there are some ways to get at that data.  It is on my longer term list of things to get access to, once we've stablized the rest.
