We can heal the land, but, no, it doesn't heal itself.

Raph is of a very old-school mentality with MMO style games of any kind. People should work together and need each other to at least some extent. Inherently, this requires people being somewhat competitive. I get that. I'm not overly fond of it, but I get it.

I like the idea of a group claiming an area and making a place for themselves. It was nice when SWG was young. Even in games like Horizons/Istaria in its stunted way it worked. After a few years when people stop playing, though, it's not so good.

The only other game out there that even remotely grabs my attention atm is Pantheon, and that's probably never going to be something I invest time in. I'm willing to give Stars Reach a little time to impress me.

Pantheon would be interesting to me if they indeed added housing of some kind. Sounds like the plan to eventually. But it also sounds more geared towards grouping than even Stars Reach. I am not against working with other people, but I don't want a game to require it. I game when I have time on my own schedule, not a groups schedule.

I was talked into trying Pantheon, btw. It's so similar to EQ beta/early launch. I like it, and so does the spousal unit, but I can see why a lot of people are put off.

In case anyone reads this and cares, I would not recommend Pantheon. The game is very heavy on the nostalgia. It does have a lot of EQ-esque elements. It's just not done enough or done well enough at this point for me to recommend it to anyone. Perhaps in the future it will be better. I would rather recommend Istaria, Project Gorgon, or an EQ or DAoC emulator instead for anyone who wants that classic feel.

Thanks for the info. I had already decided it wasn't for me. I just don't want forced grouping or hard core playing. After 7 years of cold turkey quitting, I'm back in EQ2 and having fun. Go figure. Everyone left about when we did from our guild so it's just me and my husband in the guild but that has it's advantages. I still enjoy the cross-server chats like the homeshow channel. There's several expansions to play through, lots of new crafting and decorating stuff. I like the new overseer stuff. I like the holiday stuff and it seems like there's a holiday all the time LOL. I'm sure I'll get tired of it again, but it's nice to leave that long and come back and all my stuff is still there which brings me to my next statement.

I seriously considered supporting the kickstarter for Star's Reach, but what finally made me decide not to, besides the really rough state of the game in pre-alpha, was the fact they are going to charge a monthly fee for your "property pass" aka the "land" you build your house on. If you don't pay monthly or play enough to trade with other players for a property pass (aka grind), you lose the land and apparently they are planning to save a blueprint of your build. But since the game centers around building IMO, they are basically forcing you to pay a monthly fee and if you take a break you have to find a new build location. I just don't like that model at all. That could all change by the time they go live but if it doesn't, even if the game is fun, I doubt I'll play. After coming back to EQ2 after 7 years my house and all my stuff and our guild hall fully in tact.

I still play Hearthstone. Never did finish BG3. Act 1 and 2 were fun, 3 was a grind & I don't play to be annoyed. LOTRO - still have lifetime membership but doubt I'll go back. I do log in for daily freebies in case we ever go back.

Next game, which is closer on the horizon, that I'm interested in checking out is Bitcraft Online. MMO, crafting, harvesting, building sandboxish game. Has potential but can't tell until I try it. I signed up for early access.
