Heh.. and the long awaited recipe for the interesting red adorns.. the recipe is still heirloom, but they made the adornment No-Trade... so you can't make the adornment for your alts....

I just have to wonder, for someone that is so HAPPY about the state of EQ2, he seems to spend more time here, and on the OF, then actually playing...

He's never actually claimed to be happy with the game. Nor has he actually said that he's played the current expac.

I always knew the day would come when they would push the boat out too far, and finally p!ss off the crafters/decorators. I *used* to love tradeskilling. Loved doing writs (when in the mood). Put some music on, earn status for the guild, get tradeskill levels, just chilling out and letting my mind wander. I found it very soothing (like harvesting) at times when I just needed to do something that didn't involve too much thinking. But tradeskilling is now so badly broken in this last expac, that I just don't think it will ever recover. Which, I suspect, is exactly what Gninja et al want. I don't want to have to do a sig line to level. Levelling isn't the be-all-and-end-all for crafters - making stuff and being helpful to the community is. I'd rather do writs, and contribute to the guild. Or I'd rather have the choice of how I want to level, rather than being forced into a pathway that I don't enjoy.

Similarly with adventuring. I don't want to have to do a sig line to get levels, or get anywhere. This used to be a sandpit game - you had choice about where you went and what you did to level and progress your character. Not any more. Now we are all forced down a single pathway with a few go-nowhere side quests. It's meant to be EverQUEST, not EverSIG.

And so, because I don't group or do heroics or raid, I find that this game is so incredibly narrow in scope now for a player like me, there's just no fun in it any more. Hardly any overland quests that allow you to explore the world. Can't fly (until you've done the dreaded sig line, that is more a chore than a pleasure, because you HAVE to follow that path). No point in crafting. Plat infusing (and grind to get the plat), and all those walls of texts that Siggy and the other Bubble Gnomes/White Knights insist is the fun part of the game (*snort* yeah, right) are actually NOT fun, but like working a second job - if I wanted a second job, I'd get one that actually paid me to do it.

But they've really broken it badly this time. I know we've grizzled about other expacs in the past but nothing has been so totally broken like this one. And every time they fix something, they break something else, because they couldn't be bothered fixing the issue properly in the first place (food/drink buff is a prime example). I think they have now completely alienated the one segment of the player base that was totally consistent, and that spent a lot of money on the marketplace - the crafters/decorators. I'm currently having far more fun in a very linear game (SWTOR) than I've had for a long time in EQ2.

I would think that simply saying, "We can't/won't do crafting any more because reasons, sorry" would have gone over a lot better than stringing people along with excuses and incomplete products.

I'm 100% with you Rhodris, I tried to stick it out through PoP, but my entire guild just left, and I cannot blame them. We've been playing together for 20+ years here and there, and had a nice home in EQ2, but it became such a boring, broken grind, there was zero point in staying. We did heroics (at least up through KA), but really just liked the stories, and overland adventurers. Forcing nearly everything (in PoP) to be a heroic or raid, was the death knell for us.

Some have asked about maybe going back, and just starting as level 1's, and starting over, but sooooooo very much is broken, right down to the currency, that that isn't an option for me, and it has not gone well for them either.

Mind you, I didn't mind the Sig Lines, at least until PoP, at least they made sense, and had a story. With PoP, and 4 sig lines, with competing factions, and mostly the same quests, it was another story.

I can't complain about the current plat sinks, as they have been needed since there were soooooo many dupe bugs for plat that were NEVER rolled back, or corrected, until certain "Favored Players" got enough, but to expect anyone to actually START now is just plain foolish. The player economy was destroyed. Hell, in LOTRO, I was suspended for a week, because I told someone I'd make them a full set of gear (that they wanted), but I'd charge 5,000 gold. Well, he said sure, so I did it, and was suspended the next day for "Buying Gold".

I still hate the HUGE statflation with each expansion, and the new "Required Stats" to even play. That is a sign of a Dev Team with really no ideas, no plan, no creativity. It really looks more like a Dev Team that really doesn't expect to have a job in the near future, so why not just toss out random crap... someone will suck it up!

I subbed to EQ1, and EQ2 since they went live, and I really did appreciate the "All Access" sub, but they haven't gotten a dime from me after screwing so much up.

To echo what so many others have said - When I caught up on the Kander thread this morning it made me sad. Resigination is the perfect word. There's no fight left in most of them. I really think that DBG is underestimating just how many people are paying subs to keep crafting and decorating. It's not just the crafters though, I'm one for sure, it's the thing that always pulls me back, but raids are broken, heroics and solos are bland, it's bad this time.

I'm fairly certain they didn't fix the daily quest thing either because I've only gotten Ruins since they "hotfixed" it, three or four of them in a row now. And, of course, they ****ing broke the crafting dailies again too. They literally have not had a single patch or hotfix where they didn't **** up something more than it was or **** up something that wasn't ****ed up to begin with.

I find it quite funny that the past tense didn't get *ed and I had to censor myself.

There's a lot of reasons why we might be seeing a sunset of the game soon. Starting with the hosting changes in the EU, limiting transfers to/from eu servers for a brief time last year I suspected the change was to limit DB's liability because the EU courts see MMO's differently.

Then the rushed release of an expansion that was just plain broken during the holidays when wallets are a little looser followed by the separation of the EQ2 franchise from the parent company, it all points to more liability reduction. It's obvious that the game is held together with spit and bailing wire now and there's seems to be zero accountability for the employees and management as far as QA of any kind.

They've set it up to where all they have to do now is turn off the switch. Daybreak is excluded from any recourse and Darkpaw can just fold into bankruptcy preventing any type of legal settlement. Even in Europe the courts can award damages til they pile up to the moon (pardon the reference) but you can't collect from a 3 month old company that just went bankrupt.

I seriously hope my tinfoil hat theory is wrong here but from what i've seen so far it wouldn't surprise me if the servers went down one day and never came back up.

Siggy just posted in the Kander thread. She said she re-read some old romance books because they were more entertaining than anything in EQ2 currently. That right there is about as telling as it gets.
