GU106 - What do you think?

Big time agree. It's been hard to see the content shrinking while the costs remain the same (and rise, in the case of the collector's editions). One thing that pretty much hasn't changed: The art and animation teams are kicking butt...the style of EQ2 still stands out, even after so many years.

There are still good storytellers on the team. There are still stories to be told in Norrath. I'd like to see them make it to the light of day.

Wow - they deleted the entire thread about krono marketing on tle servers.

I was in the middle of a response too, dangit.

I'll answer here - Yes, krono are account wide. So you could feasibly snap some up 'cheap' on the TLE/event servers and sell them on the live servers, but it would be cost prohibitive to do that in reverse.

I believe it was the OP's assertion that the buyer had done something shady to be able to afford to purchase the kronos, not the seller.

Edit: You can even buy them in one game, and sell them in another.

That's exactly what I was thinking. You could buy krono in another environment, sell them on tle or any other server, take the proceeds and start buying up the market, and wallah, you're controlling the price.

Seemed pretty obvious to me. That's why I mentioned it.

    Edit and Note:
I have friends on Maj'Dul who have been hoarding Kronos for years. One of the bought almost 60 of em during AoM alone. Would be nothing for them to slide a few over to tle.

Regarding other games out there. I'm in that camp of "can't really find an "old" EQ2 replacement" (meaning what EQ2 was prior to going downhill) and I haven't actively played EQ2 for about 1.5 years. I'll give my opinion on what's been mentioned that I've personally tried as well as throwing in a few other options. The last 2 are where I spend my time albeit in fits and starts. I have yet to find something I really can get hooked on. I've mostly ended up just spending more time in other hobbies unrelated to gaming and also a lot of time playing tabletop games.

Rift - Played this up to what used to be max level a while back and then got bored. It is cool, decorating/housing is very good, love shinies, etc. Downside - not crazy about the movement and the look/feel of the game and as a mostly solo/duo player I found the end game lacking.

GW2 - I played this right when it came out, up to max level and loved it right up until I hit max and then quickly got bored. Also, at least when I played there was no housing/decorating.

BoD - Didn't like it at all - found the paths to follow to get from thing to thing confusing and tedious, did not like the combat, movement, nor the look/feel/sounds. I personally hate PvP which I know can be avoided but not if you want access to all crafting materials.

Shroud of the Avatar - I bought in at the earliest point of this for $25. I'll admit I haven't played it recently but during alpha I played it some and had too many lag issues, movement issues, and did not like the combat system. Also they had a "land grab" type issue where they sold plots early on to raise money and from what I've heard all the good spots are gone. That's rumor based so take it for what you will.

WoW - played this when it first came out up to max level and got bored. Never liked the character models.

ESO - seemed promising so I bought it when it was on sale on Steam for around $5-10. What killed it for me is the movement/combat system and also the lack of auto-follow. I play with my husband and trying to keep up with him running around was tedious and frustrating.

Wild Terra Online - if you can get past the look of the game this is a fun survival/building/decorating game. Not much else to it. You get quests but they aren't much of a quest it's more like craft these things. I wanted to throw it out there though because they do have non-pvp servers and it's not a bad little game to pass some time in. I will say I get bored quickly though but my husband plays all the time and loves it.

Star Realms - (not an MMO or even close) - this is an online deck builder. If you like deck builders it's a lot of fun and also has a new arena mode. I love how I can jump in, play a game, jump out.

LOTRO - I'll be honest, if I did not have a lifetime sub I don't know if I would still play as much as I do, but I do and it does have housing, even prestige type housing. Decorating is limited to hooks. The crafting system is complex (in a good way) and meaningful. I like the combat and movement. I like the complexity of the classes and the fact that they aren't run of the mill class types. I love the lore. I love their festivals. I love the community. Negatives - it's dated (been around a while), DBG has some "producer" role although that remains fuzzy and they have much better customer relations than the other DBG games since they are once removed so to speak. Another negative is travel. It can be time consuming and sometimes even hard to figure out how to get from point a to point b. At low levels it's easy but at higher levels when you need to move around a lot it can get annoying.

No one will be changing the cash cow mechanics. Krono for plat is their largest funding block I would bet.

Yeah me too. I just disliked how it felt to play, though I do want to give it another chance at some point. The art direction is really gray too which I'm not a huge fan of, I love colorful games and I can't stand games that are super gray/brown. Basically I would love it if every game looked like Overwatch - I'm a monster I know.

GW2 on the other hand I love how everything feels and I love how it looks visually, but the game mechanics feel simplistic and shallow. Exploring almost feels like I'm just checking off a list. A fancy list, but still a list. I didn't make it too far though I only did like two areas.

I played Rift tight when it came out. Loved the character customization, but the pq's eventually got old, and the extremely linear theme park: quest hub -> go up the road a bit-> quest hub =>repeat .....drove me nuts. Lasted about a month for me.

I played lotro and ddo, but that was about 10 years ago.

Lotro: really beautiful open world, great dungeons, lore and quests. Game was horrifically buggy and laggy, and I hated the combat.

DDO: loved the twitch combat, character customization, itemization scheme, and the puzzles. Loathed crafting and raids in that game. Too much zerging, but the dungeons were pretty fun. This game just got stale for me after awhile.

I'm loving Destiny 2, which technically is an MMO, but a FPS one. I have my light up to 369, with tons left to do. Fun in crucibles.

I've never liked too much twitch combat myself... my character's 'dexterity' should be determined by my character's stats, not mine :p

It's not what I would call buggy or laggy now (10 years ago I would have agreed). The only time I hit lag is during festivals when everyone is at the Party Tree and fireworks are going off constantly. Don't get me wrong it has bugs like any game, but I think it's more solid than most these days.

Sounded like sour grapes from a guy who was frustrated because he didn't understand how some if you were doing it, so make accusations of cheating.

Anyone who has played any mmo ever knows player markets are games in themselves.

    Note to my post above:

I'm not saying that cheaters don't exist, they do. I also think it's real difficult to pull off these days.

    Also, as long as:

    (1) there are account wide currencies like krono (the only in game asset that appreciates at a rate >= plat inflation) people will invest in them, and so it easy to generate in game currency on any other server.

    (2) there are people who know how to manipulate markets. How many times have we bought shinies, finding 6/7 dirt cheap, only to find some guy has about 10 of the last one you need marked up to the heavens:) ?

I was the same way, but after forcing myself, I'm ok now with the x-box controller. Took a few weeks.

I didn't even do any of that, I just sold shinies and made sure I relisted them when I logged in and before I logged out. Sure sometimes if someone put 4 cheap krono I'd buy all 4 and then list one to make my money back, I just see it as stupid not to do this. It certainly is in no way cheating.
I haven't paid a sub since krono came out, finally I had something to spend my plat on when they were introduced! Never once have I bought from auctions as that takes the point away from playing the game for me. Well when I used to play :)

I've never played a shaman, but isn't that really bad with stuff like the strike-through and large single hits?
