The state of the game in my opinion is reflected in the Guild Recruitment section of the Official Forums.

So after this I went to raid progression site and looked at active Raid guilds since PoP, just guilds that actually killed a raid mob.

    16 - HOF
    11 - AB
    23 - Majdul
    12 - SkyFire
    1 - IoR
    22 - Thurgadin

This is not ones that have collapsed since PoP came out. But by going to the Guild Recruitment section, It shows a lot of these guilds recruiting, so tells me things are not rosy at all. I don't really remember when I really just stopped playing, but since PoP came out but I did do the sig quest line. But just could not play anymore after that.

I wish Feldon would post the actual numbers, just something I would like to know, but I know DBG would shut down the Census as soon as he did that

I say post the actual numbers. There is no way they shut down census. The day they do that, is the day the game collapses. Shutting down census means no more EQ2U, no more raid tracker, no more EQ2 traders, no more updates to wiki, etc. The game isn't designed to be played without the help that census provides.

As for Skyfire, look at those 12 and see which have killed a mob in the last month. Only six of them have kills from this month and only four of them are recent kills. The rest appear to have stopped progression.

    1. Forces of Evil - most recent kill is 6/20
    2. Genisys - most recent kill is 6/27
    3. Reported - most recent kill is 6/24
    4. Forgotten Souls - most recent kill is 6/24
    5. Legion - most recent kill is 6/5
    6. Insurrection - most recent kill is 1/15
    7. Grievance - most recent kill is 5/20
    8. Necessary Evil - most recent kill is 3/29
    9. Might of Mistmoore - most recent kill is 5/3
    9. Legendary Damage - most recent kill is 5/24
    10. Fallen Under - most recent kill is 5/21
    11. Hand of Bayle - most recent kill is 6/3
    12. Nihilist Dynasty - most recent kill is 2/24

Well, i can't comment for other server, but in Thurgadin the active raiding guild are not 22... Some guild don't raid anymore.

Basically any guild without a kill in SoH is no longer raiding. Removes 6 from Thurgadin

The sub is really cheap, so I'm still paying it, but I haven't logged in for 3 weeks. They seem determined to kill it this time.

It is not worth killing eq2u just to be "right".

Shame the game design team, producers, and management don't share the same view (with respect to their product).

so with my handy matlab, that is .857 guilds per month dropping out, now I know this will not go to zero. but Raiding on AB and skyfire will be down to probably 1 guild by November(next expansion) HOF will be down by first of next year leaving Maj'dul and Thurgadin making it to end of summer of next year.

Of course this is just a theory using the numbers and past happenings, If I was a betting man, I would bet this is going to be the last expansion EQ2 ever sees this year and then put in maintenance mode until the servers get too costly to run then sunset the game by early 2020.

I wonder if I should post this on the OF???

The game has been on maintenance mode since the first round of lay-offs.

I can't agree with that, as they are still introducing new content, no matter how crappy it is, maintenance mode is fixing bugs that are game stopping and that's it.

ARE they releasing new content, though? Or are they making a few cosmetic changes to a couple of old quests and dungeons, that you then have to repeat for the next 10 months of the expansion, and calling it 'new content'?

Because that's just Park Avenue maintenance mode, rather than Skid Row maintenance mode.

    It's still maintenance mode.

I can see why you define maintenance mode this way.

For me, it's form and substance. DBG is exerting only the absolute minimum amount of effort required to milk money out of remaining customers. There is virtually no concern for anything else.

So imo, substantively, the game is and has already been in maintenance mode.

That's the timeline that I've been thinking. Supposedly, there will be an expansion this year. Honestly, the only reason I believe that is because Ttobey talked about working on it. If it was anyone else, I wouldn't have believed it. After that, it's clean up the mistakes made in the expansion, layoff most of the team, and put the game in maintenance mode.

I suspect they'll release an expansion, collect what money the can, and decide whether to approve or deny funding for the next year in Jan +/-.
