If people refuse to criticize, or allow criticism of, The Thing they claim to care about what they are showing is that they don't really care about the wellbeing of The Thing at all. It's not The Thing they're actually concerned with. The Thing is simply the object they are idolizing as a vehicle for obsessing over themselves and their own feelings. If you want The Thing to be healthy and grow you must be honest and willing to assess the entirety of The Thing, good and bad. Otherwise you can never address the flaws or properly appreciate the strengths.

Here we have yet another example of Bubble Gnomes and intellectual honesty.

New guy asking about game population, and here comes the Bubble Gnome welcome wagon, "Everything's awesome, population is fine, enjoy!".

Of course, a couple of honest folks then feel compelled to describe an honest picture, provoking Bubble Gnome ire, and rehashed arguments that clearly reveal a distorted view and not reality.

It's exactly the same thing Longdale does. The inability to comprehend that misleading people causes harm to both customers and the game is astounding.

It's a point of pride that I don't say things when someone isn't around that I wouldn't say, and have said, directly to their face.

I have, in fact, called BG's - both here and on the OF (before the jackboot of moderation came down)- Bubble Gnomes right to their e-faces. Just like I have done with you.

On the flip side, one member of my Bubble Gnome Fan Club back in the day (which you were at least peripherally a part of) bragged on the OF about how they all got together to talk about me on Discord, as if I'd think it was anything but pathetic they didn't have something better to do with their time.

So take your hypocritical 'disgust' and stuff it up your <edited for content>.

False. First, in December 2018, you went off behind my back. (I was not appraised of you talking about me on another forum). Second, about a week ago, I was not quoted for any criticism (talked around me).

I know, I shouldn't tease them, but I'm done now. It's all played out exactly as anticipated.

And to be clear, I'm not bothered, angry or particularly provoked. Poking the Bubble Gnomes with sticks - especially the particularly virulent trolls - is just a past time that shouldn't be indulged too often, like eating a lot of sugar.

 

That's a good rule of thumb (if you don't want the heat). You should have valid suggestions or criticism (people will listen within reason) but if you have nothing good to say - better to keep your pie hole shut (and not go behind their backs - PERIOD).

Edit: For online forums, you have less of an excuse (anonymity) not to talk to people straight.

 

Ive had people on the OF talk about how they would mock me and my dps Sk, but I had fun doing that and was encouraged by my guild and friends. Just more friends left, guild grouping stopped and I hated the expansions and DBG's expansion tactics. So I left. Seriously doubt ill be back. Poor Meneltel. Rotting away but not dead.
