    Greetings People!

I poked my head in here and on the OF, noticed something over there I thought I would mention.

On the browser bar it now says 'not secure' instead of the padlock icon. Visits have been sparse over there so I'm not sure when it happened, or how important it is, but there you go.

Also poked a particularly vigorous Gnome, because they spewed one of the most irritating and delusional misinformation sound bites from inside the Bubble.

Inire Not really an evil duck, just misunderstood.

are you using the updated firefox or chrome?

Chrome now defaults to "not secure" for sites that have any HTTP traffic. Firefox will now show "not secure" for sites that have mixed images and HTTPS.

that's all it means, that some of the traffic you are looking at is not actually encrypted in transit.

Nope, Edge actually. Google and I had a bad break-up.

Thanks for the information! I can't imagine anything sensitive that might be in forum information, but one never knows!

Lets be honest, DBG acts like the forums are the most unsecured website in existance, why they never say anything or tell us anything!

I'd be more worried about the unhinged on OF rather than unsecured

Most of the unhinged are safely in a bubble...

    Guys, guys, guys.

    Stop nitpicking.

AB is merging with SH. All is well.

    Edit:
    Chrome blows.
    Edge blows.

    I have spoken.

I moved my one toon from SH to AB long ago. No one knows her and I haven't really played her, but she is already safely there. So they can go ahead and blow up SH anytime they want.

On the official forums, the reason it's throwing HTTPS errors is the page is trying to load insecure content, namely the EQ2U signature and an image from IMGUR with http:// addresses. Also a lot of the links throughout the forum are https:// which requires extra redirects to get loaded properly.

Years ago I started the process of getting EQ2U fully HTTPS compliant. I actually had a variable for https or http so I only have to change it 1 place to affect *everywhere* on EQ2U. I was pretty proud of myself until I found the places I load javascript and such without using the variable. Oops. :)

For them to fix this on the official forums, they would need to add a small plugin that would search-and-replace all Posts and Signatures from http:// to https:// . Not hard to do and would fix the problem. But they don't even have anyone who understands the software anymore.

More telling.... they don't have anybody that CARES.
The fact that they decided to ditch custom avatars (and have only a tiny number of available ones) is evidence enough of that....
