Biden seems to think we have all the time in the world. I've never seen legislation slow-walked as much as we're seeing right now.

A Senator and maybe a Rep or two is going to kick the bucket in the next 18 months. I mean have you see how old they all are? The actuarial tables are pretty clear. Some of them don't even know what planet they're on. Every day Democrats don't use the barely 51 vote majority (with Harris) they currently enjoy is rolling the dice and hoping their winning streak holds out.

If this all sounds vaguely familiar, it's because we've been here before, but with much larger majorities. Obama had 59 1/2 votes in the Senate with Joe Lieberman being the Manchin-style crochety swing vote. Nothing got done except the ACA which was a practically gift-wrapped for the health care industry. They even ripped the Public Option out. Insurance companies laughed all the way to the bank. Also Obama didn't prosecute the bankers for the economic meltdown they caused. He actually stopped his DOJ from going after them. He let 5 million people lose their homes, many through no fault of their own. He let Black wealth be virtually wiped out.

Biden's bailout was better and more people-focused and does have some good things in it, but we're still seeing echoes. Ten thousand small businesses folded due to COVID. 8 million people are teetering on bankruptcy and/or are so far behind on rent or mortgage that when the moratoriums end, they will be homeless. Congress said "stay home, stop working, and uh we'll get back to you later" as if people can just go for 6-9 months without a paycheck. People were given the Faustian choice to work or starve.

2022 is going to be a bloodbath if something big doesn't pass soon. Biden hasn't even descheduled pot. It's literally a signature and he won't do it. Same with student loan forgiveness.

Yep. Sooner or later, things are gonna go sideways. When the moratoriums run out and all of sudden folks are looking at losing their houses, and all the finger pointing about "woke politicians," "socialism," and so-forth-and-so-on don't change a thing - when the "have-not" folks on both sides of the aisle are desperately trying to figure out how to provide for their families, while 'cross town, the ranks of the "haves" are larger then ever before....

You think we have gun violence now? Hell, this could just be the tip of the iceberg, especially if the rhetoric gets cranked up even more for the midterms next year. Ain't gonna lie - my partner's been a city/suburb type for the 21+ years we've been together, and is looking at places in the mountains with enough land (5+ acres, minimum) to hole up on for the long haul. :(

Enough is enough - compromise and bipartisanship is great when both parties are willing to work together - which we haven't had in a very long time. If the Dem's keep trying to take the high road and play the reconciliation game, they're gonna lose their shirts and get run over by an orange dude driving a short bus with studded tires and a stars-n-bars license plate.

Ammunition and related component (powders, cases, projectile, primers) shortages in my country due to the huge demand from the US. This happened during the Obama era as well. Different twist this time is that big price offers are being made for existing stock in this country currently.

I think we only make ammunition powders and projectiles here.

  5. Hmmm.....
Now this is my opinion, and mine only.

The Democatic Party got infiltrated by Nazis a long time ago.
Right after World War 2, and had Nazis in place before World War 2.
That is why the US did not enter the war until well after it started.

JFK. Killed by Lyndon B. Johnson. Radical was not with the Socio-Communist agenda. Kennedy was more of a liberal conservative middle of the road, what is best for everyone is what we shoul do kinda President. He was going to leave the Democratic Party, and take the minority vote with him.

Around 1960 the " Democratic National Socialist Party " was merged into the " Democratic National Party ".
Lee Harvey Oswald, John Wilkes Booth...

    Democrats.
Yes, even Lincoln was a victim.
    Even Democrats start Civil Wars.

There is more, much more empirical data that leads evidence to the fact that the Democratic Party of this nation, and many others. Is corrupted by George Soros.

And it is why Clintons daughter is married to Soros Nephew.

Look up Lyndon B. Johnsons' famous runway quote in Texas overheard by Two Senators....

Corruption at its finest. Sadly, also corrupted Congress.

I was about to write something similar in a new topic, but i will write it here as it seems fit.

In 2016 Steve Bannon, i can't remember before or after the Preussian Traitor Family clinched power, came to Europe and said the following. " The world will go back in time in the next years. GB will return to the 60's Cold War Era with Russia and the USA will be in a state like a hundred years ago in the 1920's".
Before i continue i want to point out that i am not a Steve Bannon Fan, quite the opposite i despise him.

As a German i see similarities between the 1920's "Weimar Republic" and the current USA. Back in the days there was a consistent fight for power in the German Reichstag. On one hand you had Nationalists, wo dreamed of a stong Germany, and on the other Social Democrats and Bolshevists (Communists). During that time Adolf Hitler wanted to copy Mussolini but his attempts were thwarted by Social Democrats and he was sent to prison.
When the two strongest German Politicians, both Social Democrats, died on natural causes, that is when Hitler's way to Power was unmatched and successfull.

Replace Nationalists, soon to be Nazis, with certain Republicans and Social Democrats /Bolchevists with Democrats. Replace the SA with the Boogaloo Boys and Proud Boys and you know where this is going.
The biggest difference is that the german Social Democrats had two main political figures. Friederich Ebert ( The man who put Hitler behind bars) and Gustav Streseman (Noble Peace Prize Winner) who as long as they lived fought Nationalists.

The modern Democrats don't seem to have this figures and that is why you see the current state of politics.

We all know the ending of the Weimar Republic and if Democrats (Biden) don't step up the gear the USA will head to a similar ending.

In the last weeks republicans senators blocked a January 6 Commision, although i understand Pelosi still can commision one.
A couple of days later Trump and his acolytes say "Trump will be reinstated in August".

When Rep. Adam Kinzinger sounds more like a Democrat than Manchin, you know the problems democrats facing.

Democrats might have a chance to turn Texas somewhat blue by replacing the Gov., there are rumors Matthew McConaughey might be a democtars candidate, and big mouth Senator Ted Cruz.
What are the democrats doing , especially Joe manchin, they abandon their fellow democrats.

I am neither German nor from the USA, but I am a military social historian - I said to disbelieving friends over 4 years ago that the USA was exhibiting the same patterns of behaviour as pre-Nazi Germany (Weimar Republic), and that Trump's presidency would be fascist. They shook their heads when I said that Nazi-ism was on the rise again, yet here we are with the hard-right showing the world its face again.

It takes only 2 generations' removal to forget the actions and consequences of societies past.

What's important is that Trump is not an outlier, just a symptom. If it were not for the mean tweets and disgraceful speeches and rallies, the actual governing is completely in line with the pro-war, pro-capitalist, pro-exploitation, racist, anti-poverty policies of Bush, Clinton, Obama, Biden, and Reagan. Democrats are just controlled opposition. They are best friends behind the scenes and only play fight on television to get your money. Look at Michelle Obama rehabilitating George W. Bush, the biggest war criminal of them all. His actions led to the deaths of 1 million Iraqis and Afghanis and the Democrats want reconciliation. Notice how there has been no reckoning for the previous administration? Notice how after Bush, Obama just continued the war machine, dragging us into military action in a total of 9 countries?

Biden teased $15 minimum wage, Public Option, Student Loan Forgiveness, Police Reform, etc. to get elected and then shot all those ideas out back like Old Yeller on Inauguration day. He's walked back a $2 trillion infrastructure bill to half a trillion LESS than Trump proposed and given up on repealing any of Trump's tax cuts for bazillionaires. He's not even restoring the top tax rate to Reagan levels. Forget about the 1950's when the top tax rate was NINETY PERCENT and a single income could support a family.

And yet people on the Right are still strutting around calling Biden a "socialist" for proposing LESS ambitious spending and LESS progressive policies than I could have imagined. Folks, this is Ronald Reagan's 11th term.

Agreed. Something's gotta change - unfortunately with the track record in this country, it's probably going to involve mass shootings, storming of public buildings, and in the end - the failure of our great experiment in Democracy.

But hey, at least we'll be free to do whatever we want, as long as it's what the oligarchy tells us we want!

Everyone gets upset about 1/6 because it was an attempted coup, an insurrection, a revolution, to.... try to get the Orange One reinstated? Income inequality today is more grotesque than the conditions that led to the French Revolution. The billionaires made huge sums during the Pandemic while millions lost it all. 8 million people are about to be homeless. But getting Trump back was their motivation? Besides hero worship, why risk prison?

All 1/6 did was show that dumping billions into police budgets doesn't fix anything.

Civilizations/societies have a lifespan and ours is way past the climax and at the tail end of the denouement. Biden is terrible but I felt, for the 1st time, that I HAD to vote for him.
