Character main role vs alt role

I am getting the characters stats from the api but what I am not seeing is how to grab the primary vs secondary roles. In order to get the characters stats I use the character id. But doing it this way I cannot see how to grab lets say Tank role vs dps role on any given character.

Anyone know how to get this specific information based on their role?
